NEXT ITERATION Ensemble

Next Iteration Ensemble(NIE), directed by dianne k. webb, is a group of performers from various places and backgrounds who are committed to stretching their experiences on stage—through their ongoing investigation of devising original pieces, physical acting, mask work, character investigation—and considering the viewer as co-collaborator.  Through staged readings of diverse and often underrepresented works, traditional productions, and co-devising work, Next Iteration Ensemble explores relevant, thought-provoking ideas.

At NIE we believe that theatre is action. It is dynamic, living, interactive, generative, creative. In theatre, what gets under the skin, what gnaws at the bones is the intimate storytelling, the breath, the voice, the body almost within reach enacting life—mine or yours, or someone else's to provoke, cause questions to form, challenge assumptions, dare us to see more, to understand anew. In the space of the theater. Here we are free to uncover, uncork, unveil, reveal all the nooks and crannies of our humanness.
